It is our belief that the call of God is to make much more of Jesus Christ than man and his problems. Indeed, the Bible cautions us that the answers to man’s problems are not found by focusing on the problems, but rather by continuously “seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God” (Colossians 2-3). Therefore, much of our teaching and preaching focuses primarily on who God is and what we have because we want to show and share how great Christ is in all of life!
We believe in preaching the full council of God, therefore we believe in expository preaching. This means we study the Word of God verse by verse. Regardless of whether a passage or section of verses is thought useful or even liked or disliked, The Holy Spirit can speak to us thru every verse. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” At FBC we take this very seriously as we view all the scripture as important.
We believe that church membership is in fact not in name. We expect every member to be an active (positive) influence for the gospel of Jesus Christ. We therefore require everyone who is interested in committing themselves to FBC to contacting the pastor.
We are driven by our commission (Matthew 28:19-20) to make disciples and compelled by our command (Mark 12:29-31) to love. We believe a disciple is one who follows Christ and desires to show and share His greatness in all of life. Therefore, we believe every Christian, regardless of age, should be on a journey of learning and developing into the likeness of their Savior, Jesus Christ.
All of the buildings and facilities used by First Baptist Church are bought and paid for. We have no outstanding debt against which we are paying.
